What this game is and how to play it

What is this game?

Liquid Wars is a fast tactical arena game where every team is made of many tiny units. You do not command each unit one by one. Instead, you guide your whole army by moving your commander target, and your liquid-like swarm flows through the map.

Main goal

Convert the enemy armies to your own color and finish with the largest surviving force. If a time limit is set, the winner is the team with the most units when time runs out.

How to play

  1. Choose Single Player or Multiplayer from the title screen.
  2. Configure army size, map, and timer in the menu or lobby.
  3. Start the match, or wait for the host to start in multiplayer.
  4. Move your mouse on desktop or finger on touch to steer your commander.

Multiplayer

Start the multiplayer server with cd server && npm start, then choose Multiplayer. The host creates a room and shares the room ID. Joining players see the host's settings. Each player controls their assigned team colour.

Controls

  • Desktop: move your mouse pointer to direct your army.
  • Touch devices: drag your finger on the screen to direct your army.
  • Use the pause button to stop, resume, restart, or return to the menu.

Tips for winning

  • Try to surround enemy groups instead of rushing straight into the center.
  • Use map walls and corridors to split enemy movement.
  • Keep moving. A stationary commander is easier for opponents to trap.
  • Watch the score rail to know which team is currently strongest.
